Feb 18, 2004
to March 3, 2004 - The first 'notch' in my passport -
Australia! Although, I have visited both Canada &
Mexico/Baja California they don't stamp unless you ask them
to. I will be sure to get the stamps when I start my
World Tour (April 2005). |

Downtown Melbourne, Australia. A fantastic
skyline - reminds me of San Diego, CA. This shot
was taken from the shoreline of the Yarry River. I
was told that during my stay I got lucky with the
weather; but, during my stay, this was a typical sky.

American Football players have nothing on the Australian
Rules Football players. These guys are out for
blood and they do this without pads, substitutions or
special teams.

Queen Victoria Market - If you are in Melbourne, this
is one of the places you must visit. It's a great
place to get gifts for friends and family, haggle with
the shop keepers and walk away with a wondrous feeling.

Queen
Victoria Market - Melbourne, Australia. The fish
and meat market section are very entertaining (tasty pig
heads). One stall holder against another and
another and another, all trying to attract a buyer with
their clever use of marketing words and auctioneering
skills. |

Queen
Victoria Market - Melbourne, Australia. Vendors
marketing their goods. Really fresh fruits &
vegetables and fantastic prices. A must see for anyone
visiting Melbourne.

|

Flinders St. Railway Station - Melbourne, Australia.
You can see European influence in much of the architecture
but none more than this downtown building. |
|
State Library - Melbourne, Australia. A
gathering place for many students and visitors on a sunny
day. |
|
China Town - Melbourne, Australia. I spent a lot
of time in Melbourne's China Town. The differences in culture, style
and architecture fascinate me. |
|
Aborigines Street Performer - Melbourne, Australia.
|
|
Spirit
of Tasmania - Melbourne, Australia to Devonport, Australia
on the island of Tasmania. A 9 hour ship ride
with all the amenities (specifically a bar).
|
|
The 'mates' on the Spirit of Tasmania discussing the
route of our ride on the island of Tasmania over a few
brews. More drinking than sleeping on our 9 hour
voyage. |
|
Devonport Australia on the island of Tasmania
(Sunrise). Our first fuel stop - human fuel.
Morning coffee and pastries for the upcoming days ride. |
|
As the
official photographer for our trip I would
occasionally take off ahead of the pack at rest stops to
get in position for a photo opportunity. For me,
there was no other way to keep up these riders - they're
all crazy.
|
|
If you like wool this is the place for
you. Beautiful scenery and great grazing country. |

Fishing boat - Bicheno, Tasmania. Our first and
second night stay was at this little town on the east
coast of Tasmania of Tasmania. |

Fishing boats - Bicheno, Tasmania. Some more
boats in the little fishing town of Bicheno on the east
coast of Tasmania. |
|
Tasmania - driving through one of the many little towns
throughout Tasmania we stopped for some motorcycle and
human fuel. This is the spot where I had my first
deep fried Mars Bar. It may sound strange but it
tasted great. |
Hobart - Tasmania. The view of the harbor from our
room.

Hobart - Tasmania. Neil and Rob prepare to
tackle this mountain of food. |

Mt.
Wellington - Tasmania. Looking up the road to Mt.
Wellington which overlooks Hobart.
|
|
Outside of Gordon Dam. You can see the waterline
and the effect the water has had on the trees in the
valley. |
