World Tour - June 2005
(Click on the pictures for a larger view)

Prince Edward Island - The farms and countryside are beautiful.  If you have a chance to visit this island I highly recommend it.

Prince Edward Island, Canada.

There were many lobster boats in peoples yards.  I guess pulling them out of the water for the winter allows them to service the boat; and, it's cheaper than keeping it docked at a harbor.

West Point Lighthouse - PEI.  This lighthouse is also a comfortable inn and restaurant.

Lobster Traps - PEI.

Not the best picture, but have you tried to play hide and seek with a red fox while on a motorcycle?  I didn't think so.

By the time I got a fairly good picture this little guy was tired of our game of cat and mouse and just yawned at me.

I thought I would put the motorcycle on this and take a picture for fun.  After a closer look, I reconsidered.

Pointe-au-Pere Lighthouse on  the St. Laurence River.

The ferry I took to cross the St. Laurence River at St-Simeon on my way to Northern Quebec.

The next time you are wondering where the wood came from to make that No. 2 pencil you have in your had just remember Northern Quebec.

This picture is only a small example of all the wood piled up at the lumber yard.  And there are many lumber companies all over Northern Quebec.

A interesting look at nature during dramatic times of change.  On the left side we see the forest all burnt of from a fire.  On the right side the forest is fine, completely untouched by fire.

After my ride through Northern Quebec I headed south to Hamilton, Ontario (a suburb of Toronto) to visit an old friend I knew in San Diego.

The center of Hamilton had this nice park.  On a sunny day it seems to attract quite a crowd.

My day visit to Toronto was quick.  It is a nice city but I needed to get some service done on the BMW and had some laundry to do.

Most of the city is encased in this "spider web" of electric cables for the public transportation.  It gives the downtown area an interesting look.

My first visit to Niagara Falls - Amazing!  This is the view from the Canadian side - the best side to view the falls from.

A truly spectacular site.

I wonder if the passengers realized they were traveling under a rainbow?

After I left my friends in Hamilton, Ontario, I headed north to the little town of Tobermory.  I spent the night here because I missed the last ferry for the evening. So I got a campsite and took in the sites.

This is the harbor and 'downtown' area.  It really is a  nice town.

The morning ferry out of Tobermory which takes you across Lake Huron.

A view of a lighthouse on one of the many islands that are on Lake Huron.

At a rest stop in Ontario I started talking with a fellow rider, Sylvain - a French Canadian from Quebec. Turns out that he too was on a trip to Alaska so we spent most of the ride across Canada together (He also turned out to be a gourmet campsite cook).

He has visited every state in the USA (Alaska was his final state) and has traveled extensively in Mexico and Central America - all of it on his Harley Davidson Fat-Boy.

This memorial outside of Thunder Bay is for Terrance Stanley Fox.

"Terry Fox inspired this nation with his dream - his marathon of hope - a cross-Canada run to raise money for cancer research."

The amazing thing is that he completed his run across Canada with only one leg - loosing his right leg to cancer at 18.

The view at one of the many campsites I stayed at in Canada.

'The Forks' at Winnipeg - A lovely riverside area with restaurants, shopping, art, and entertainment.

I spent two days in Winnipeg getting service on the BMW.

A birds-eye view of 'The Forks' at Winnipeg.  Riverside area with restaurants, beer gardens, shopping, art, and entertainment.
