From left to right - Sylvan, Myself,
Aaron, & Bill. We were all on our way to Alaska, so we decided to
split a campsite have some dinner and swap some stories. |

Aaron from Wisconsin - a chain
smoking, guitar playing young man who has some real
talent.

The town of Dawson City. I spent
two days here at the Hostel across the Yukon. A
really great little town. If you ever come this
far you have to stop and take a look.

Taking the ferry across the Yukon
River at Dawson City. The ferry here is run by the
Canadian government it's free and runs 24 hours a day.

This is where we stayed at Dawson
City. Across the Yukon at the Dawson City rustic
hostile. You had the
choice of shared dorm rooms or camping - no
electricity, no running water.
The bathhouse had one large drum of
hot water (fueled by a wood-burning stove) and one large
drum of cold water and lots of buckets for mixing.
The kitchens were also all wood-burning stoves or open
campfires. And, yes there were plenty of
outhouses.

This is a view of the common room,
cooking and dining area. I would recommend this
place to everyone if you are going to Dawson City.
Here we met Marco (Finland) and
Oliver (Germany/Now Canadian). Two really good
guys and world travelers.
|
|

Dawson City had many bikers and a lot
of GS riders. The tiger-striped BMW is Bob's from
Texas. Now I never met Bob from Texas but Bob's
legend is growing.
Yukon Bob, the man who can't escape
his wife.

The Paddlewheeler Keno - Beached in
Dawson City on purpose it serves as a relic of the great
paddlewheel era in the Yukon.

Some interesting items around the town
of Dawson City.

Front Street - Dawson city. It
still has wooden walkways and feels like you should
be walking down the middle of the street with your six
shooters.

Tour.

After Dawson City we
take the Top Of The World Highway into Alaska.
|

Another milestone, arriving in Alaska
via my trusty BMW 1150GS Adventure.

A shot of the Top Of The World
Highway - Miles and miles of dirt road.
|
|

The first 'city' you arrive at on
the US side of the Top Of The World Highway - Chicken,
Alaska. This is the entire city - gift shop,
liqueur store, bar and restaurant (with free internet).

Finally, a Moose. For such large animals they sure are
skittish. As soon as you make the slightest sound
they run away.

Fairbanks, Alaska - Where I say
goodbye to my riding partner, Sylvain (hopefully we will
meet again at the motorcycle rally in Houston, Alaska).
I get new tires and an oil change at
the BMW shop in Fairbanks - Trail's End BMW. Yes,
this is the BMW shop in Fairbanks, Alaska. This
place is run and operated by George, a really great guy.
If you are a serious BMW rider you have to stop by and
see George's shop.
